Cute Video Converter Free Version is a very basic video converter. It might be cute, as the name suggests, but it isn't really powerful enough for hardcore conversion tasks. It has a good support for input formats, but a very limited support for output formats.
The user interface is very... cute. It has colorful icons and buttons and everything looks nice. It is intuitive as well, and it has most of the features that a converter needs. It has a video player that allows you to play your input files. The application also has a few edition features, such as a video cropper, a trimmer and effects.
The application opened all the files that I tried it with. I tested it with two high-definition files: one MKV and one MP4. Both opened just fine, but the MKV file didn't convert at all, and it didn't return an error either. Just nothing happened. The MP4 file converted just fine, but the quality of the conversion isn't really worthy of much discussion.
Cute Video Converter Free Version supports only conversions to AVI, MPEG, DV, and FLV. If you have a high-resolution file, you can conserve the resolution. All in all, the converter was quite fast and the file played well with no apparent problems, except for a noticeable decrease in quality.
